PREP FOR CLASS
-
Do not moisturise 24 hours before class
-
Do not shave 24 hours before class
-
Wash hands thoroughly if using oil based products (such as hair oil)
Moisturising and shaving less than 24 hours before your class will make you slippery and lessen grip. It can be dangerous but also frustrating for you if it jeopardises your hour in class. Take extra care to wash your hands thoroughly if you use hair oil, this again will make your hands slippery. If you use sun beds, using one the same day as pole is absolutely fine but please do not use sun bed cream as this will also make you very slippery.
WHAT TO WEAR & BRING
-
Shorts
-
A vest top or t-shirt
-
Leggings/Tracksuit Bottoms
-
A hoodie/cover up
-
Something to drink
Make sure you wear something that you feel comfortable to move in. Shorts are required in order for leg skin contact on the pole. We recommend short, tight "sports" shorts, as this will allow the most amount of skin contact and secure coverage when moving/ on the pole, however your comfort is number one priority. Please wear leggings or tracksuit bottoms over the top when entering the gym, you can remove these off when you are in the studio. A sports bra and vest top or t-shirt are a good option on top. You may wear a sports bra only but please ensure you have some additional coverage (t-shirt or hoodie) when walking through the gym. Bare feet is advised but if you would prefer to wear socks, you can do but at your OWN risk. The gym also sell water and other refreshments by reception.
WHAT TO EXPECT
If you have never been to a pole class before, it might feel somewhat intimidating. Your instructors understand this, they were students once too! They will do everything they can to ensure you feel as comfortable and safe as possible.
Our classes are strictly non-judgement spaces, and we usually see friendships blossom within class which only accelerates an all round super supportive atmosphere. We've had countless rounds of applauses for individuals who have mastered a move after weeks of attempts, it's a great feeling!
There are usually 8 students in a class, 2 to a pole. This allows your instructors to give you dedicated help and support.
We always begin by warming up. Then, usually, some conditioning on the pole. After this, depending on your experience, we'll start you off with some essential moves and ask you to practise in your pairs. Over the weeks and months as your strength, grip and flexibility improve we'll move you on to more advanced tricks.
Learning pole is not linear, you might feel super strong one class and a little less another. That's okay! If you have any questions on what you can do outside of pole classes to refine anything, please just ask one of your instructors, we're always here to help!
